Fara brings together four leading musicians at the forefront of today’s Scottish folk scene – Jennifer Austin, Kristan Harvey, Jeana Leslie and Catriona Price’s three fiddles and a piano – to produce a fiery sound rooted strongly in their upbringing among the music of Orkney.
Following a nomination for Up And Coming Act of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards in 2015, the success of their debut album Cross The Line in 2016, lead to a nomination for the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards’ Horizon Award. Fara also performed at 2017’s prestigious event in the Royal Albert Hall, to a rapturous response. (Click here to watch their performance.) Also in 2017, Fara won the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik (German Critics Choice Award) and were nominated for Folk Band of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards.

Damien O’Kane (vocals, guitar/tenor guitar and banjo), Steven Byrnes (guitar/tenor guitar), Stevie Iveson (electric guitar) & Anthony Davis (Keys/Bass)
2 x nominee at BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, UK.
Originally from Ireland, Damien O’Kane is a musician of many talents. Teamed up with three leading musicians on the circuit, their sound is sublime and exhilarating. Here is a band that take traditional Irish music and song and, in the words of the The Telegraph, turn it into ‘Folk-Pop that is Irish music for the 21st Century.’
O’Kane is a relaxed, assured singer. His hypnotic vocal style exudes a natural warmth and empathy with the colourful characters who occupy his songs.
He’s also an award-winning banjo player. And a superb guitarist. And an ingenious arranger. Not to mention an accomplished tunemaker, researcher, bandleader and accompanist of rich imagination and fearless vision.

We hate writing this stuff. You want to read someone bigging us up? Send an email to Rich’s mum. We formed in 2008 and built our house on the foundations of some over-serious indie music, a falling out of love with the record industry and a still heartfelt belief in the twin powers of music and people.
We had a manifesto. It was basically that we would only do stuff that was fun, that we’d make only the music we wanted to make, and plan events that we’ed want to go to… that we should let people pay what they want for our music, that if it’s all about the money then we should probably just go train as accountants… that we should collaborate with interesting people and on interesting projects… that making music makes our lives better, and we want to share how it feels, not keep it to ourselves.

Luke is a Singer-Songwriter from Canterbury, Kent, who in 2013 was nominated in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for both the Horizon Award for Best Emerging Talent and The Young Folk Category. He was also winner of Fatea’s “Male Artist of the Year 2014” and 2016 and his live album ‘Solo:Duo:Trio’ was voted 2018 Album of the Year by Laurel Canyon.

“Jackson is one of the most dynamic and exciting live performers of his generation” – Folk Radio UK

“Every so often a new voice emerges, one so stunning that it knocks you sideways. Jackson has been compared to a young Richard Thompson and for once these are not empty words” – Acoustic Magazine

“One of the most faultless live recordings ever in my opinion – he’s a great songwriter with a great voice and boy can he sing the blues!” – Mike Harding

“Dave Wilson’s songs pull no punches when relating to the sights and sounds of everyday local life, and are complimented by Kip’s powerful and emotional voice.”
Daily Telegraph, January 2018

“A sublime collection of tracks to kick off the new year in style. Well-balanced, strong songs delivered with care, and by people that are passionate about their craft. Lovely.”
Grem Devlin, Living Tradition Magazine

“Winter Wilson have landed another, right on the bridge of the nose; this is not an album that’s easy to ignore.”
